Why the WR?

When people first hear about the World Race, one of the first responses I get is "Why on earth are you doing that?" This is a great question! I have a few answers. First, I don't entirely know yet, but I can't wait to find out! Second, I firmly believe I have been called by the Lord to follow Him onto the mission field by participating in the World Race (WR). He has always whispered, "I have more for you, just keep coming to me." I am convinced the WR is my next step toward the "more" that the Lord has for me. Finally, why not? The WR provides ministries all around the globe with support. In the grand scheme of things, I have very few responsibilities. While you may be married or have children or a full-time job or even a dog, I do not. This puts me in an optimal position to serve internationally and in a capacity that, at any other stage of my life, I may not be able to.

If these don't seem like good enough reasons for me to join the WR, consider the fact that I will be earning college credit while I'm away. That means, once you take into account my advanced standing and all that jazz, I'll only have one year remaining of my Master's degree upon my return from the WR. This sounds like a win-win to me! All-in-all, I'm going on the WR because I believe that life isn't just for living, rather, it is for living with the sole intention of honoring the King and building His Kingdom. My relationship with the Father through Jesus Christ is the most important part of my life. In fact, it is my life. Everything else is just a bonus blessing. If He says this is the next thing for me, this is the next thing for me. No questions asked.

"Do not merely listen to the Word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says... whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it--not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it--they will be blessed in what they do."

James 1:22 & 25
