What is Training Camp?

If you’ve been keeping up with my blogs, then you know my squad and I arrived at LAUNCH 3 weeks ago. Launch was simply a day and a half that all of the squads launching in August met up with the Adventures in Missions leadership at a hotel. Sorta like a “ready, set, go!” conference if you will. Once we “launched” away from the real world, we were rocketed off to training camp in a convoy of 12-passenger vans. This begs the question,

“What is training camp?”

Training Camp was a 14-day-long wild, liberating, enlightening, challenging, intense, and in-tents experience. It’s purpose is to equip and encourage racers. It will push you and test you spiritually, mentally, physically, and emotionally. You will have to grow in order to survive – and that is a beautiful thing.

If you were on your way to training camp, what should you expect?

Sleeping in the woods. Hand-washing your clothes. Hand-washing your dishes. Getting to know your squad so well they become family. Interesting meals. Lots of quality time with the Lord. Bucket showers. Porta-potties. Some of the best worship sessions ever! Teachings on various subjects from various teachers (and these are seriously the bee’s knees). Sweating. Drinking water from a hose. Having this really strange crackhead energy late at night and laughing hysterically with your squad-mates. Learning how to live in community. Learning how to give more than you take. Learning that YES, you CAN do hard things! Learning to forgive others as you have been forgiven. Learning who you are and why you matter. Learning how to become the living hands and feet of Jesus. Participating in SQUAD WARS & crushing the dance battle (P Squad did anyway #represent). Worshipping your shoes and sock off. I could go on and on, but I don’t wanna give too much away.

My squad and I are ready to take on Guatemala. We would not be where we are now without training camp. & we could not have made it to training camp without all of our supporters both financially and in prayer. So, thank you!

ALSO, I made a video compilation about my journey to Training Camp! This video began when I got accepted to go on the World Race (August 2021), followed my journey throughout my senior year at ORU, and ended the day I moved into training camp (August 2022). How fun!

Last thing! If you have been wanting to join in the work that the Lord is doing on the field, I’ve got an opportunity for you! Please remain in prayer for myself, my team, my squad, World Race leadership, and each ministry we are serving. Additionally, my next financial deadline is coming up at the end of this month. If you feel called to support me and my team’s ministry financially, click the donate button on my blog! This will allow me to stay on the field ad complete the work that God has called me to. Thank you so much!

Psalm 126:5

“Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.”
